Well prepared despite the heat
The first weather forecasts for the Zurich City Triathlon are predicting summery weather with extreme temperatures and lots of sunshine. We are currently receiving many questions on this topic, so we have summarized the most important points here.
The safety and wellbeing of all participants is our top priority. We are continuously monitoring and assessing the weather development. Due to the extensive organizational framework, in particular the road closures, postponements in the race program are not feasible. A cancellation of the Zurich City Triathlon is currently not under discussion.
To best account for the expected temperatures, we have prepared various additional measures:
- At the Landiwiese, participants have access to additional water stations at two locations. Drink bottles can be refilled there with cold water.
- Next to the water stations, misting showers are available for cooling off.
- The ZC3 bars provide additional refreshment options with a sufficient range of drinks.
Comprehensive provisions are also ensured along the race courses:
- On the bike course there is a nutrition station with water and isotonic drink. Sprint distance participants pass this once, Olympic distance participants twice.
- On the run course there is a nutrition station as well as an additional water station. This means Sprint distance athletes benefit from a total of four refreshment opportunities over 5 km, while Olympic distance participants have eight available over 10 km.
- At the nutrition stations, participants will also be cooled down with a misting shower or a hose.
- After the finish, sponges are available for cooling down. In addition, our partners Powerbar, Eptinger and Focus Water provide participants with sufficient drinks for recovery and refreshment.
All information on race nutrition can be found in the ZC3 GUIDE on our website.
Prepare yourself optimally
In addition to the organizational measures, personal preparation plays an equally important role for a safe race day. We recommend:
- Drink plenty of water already in the days before the race and refill your drink bottle whenever you get the chance.
- If possible, also drink isotonic beverages to compensate for electrolyte loss and prevent dehydration.
- Refuel during the race at the nutrition stations. Also take at least one full bidon with you on the bike course.
- Wear a head covering before, during (run course) and after the race.
- Wear sunglasses on the bike and run course.
- Protect your skin throughout the day with sunscreen.
- Stay in the shade whenever possible.
We thank all participants for their support and responsible behavior. Together we create the conditions for a safe and successful Zurich City Triathlon 2026.
